The biggest teams in the Big 12 are Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. Oklahoma’s Sooners gave an amazing season in 2009, even with its novice offensive line. In 2010, with plentiful starts behind them, Oklahoma is going to ramp up its game again. The Sooners have some defensive and cornerback concerns, which will lead to some intense play. Oklahoma’s Cowboys have had average seasons the last couple of years and may not rise above average by much this year. Experts don’t expect the Texas’ Longhorns, Aggies, or Red Raiders to have huge seasons this year either. These teams have a lot of inexperience and past issues that will keep them from shining. Nebraska has lost some of its key players this year, so odds are this team won’t shine too brightly either.
The Big 12 has many underdogs that you might find in the mid and lower-tier teams. Missouri has many returning starters and a great quarterback to work with, although the media isn’t granting favor. Colorado has returning starters to bring to the table, and the Kansas State Wildcats’ coach has a phenomenal record. The Kansas Jayhawks have a new head coach with a strong record in the MAC, but the Big 12 is a different ball game. Iowa State has consistently performed strong for the last decade and is sure to bring its strengths this season. Whatever the match ups may be, the Big 12 has some great things going for, so bet away.
